Rural Life in Wiltshire in the 1940's
Stonehenge, Wiltshire the Downs. Farm worker at breakfast, his wife gives him his lunch and he leaves at 6 in the morning by bicycle. In the farmyard the estate manager gives out the work for the day ( probably a farm near Orcheston ). Tractors in the farm yard. Shepherd feeding his lambs. Children at breakfast back in the cottage while the farmer's wife looks on, they leave for school. The village shop opens for business and the grocers van does his rounds. In the blacksmith shop, a man on a horse collects a part from the blacksmith. A wheelwright at work fixing a hay cart wheel. Farmers office work. Combine harvesters at work, they're expensive a £1000 . A sheep round up. A mobile milking machine. Chicken pens are moved across a field to fertilise it. Women working on the land with men from the "holiday camp". Concludes on Wiltshire downland
