Synopsis:

Ironbridge in Shropshire and the industrial revolution 1970's

Description of the construction. Restoration work to take place due to cracks in arch and other defects making the bridge in danger of collapse.
Work begins 1972. Stainless steel rods used to secure stonework and drilled into the arch to add strength. Concrete and stell reinforcements. Machinery working until working under the bridge when pick and shovel used. Crane. Roadway replaced using concrete beams.
1973 underwater work began. Water held back with steel dam for excavation work on river bed.
Flooding occurred which damaged machinery and brought work to a standstill. Second flooding. Clearing of debris.
