Comrie colliery, Scotland has developed new methods. It has a tidier pit head, a mining school for miners in which they study geology and other related subjects. Safety instruction. Buses take miners to local villages. Canteen gives sandwiches to young miners (fourteen year olds). Lockers for miners to leave their valuables and clothes in. Safety lifts. Relief for the night shifts. The fan house circulates air underground. Coal cutting and blasting; coal conveyer belts; trucks; picking belt into rail wagon; aerial roadway (of buckets) to slag heap; pit baths; and local railways.
