Synopsis:

Major cycle race round Britain - the 1953 Tour of Britain and sponsored by the Daily Express newspaper. Leading British riders of the day. Italian and Belgian riders. Norfolk, Yorkshire, Scotland - Gretna, Blackpool, Wales - Llandudno. The start of the Morecambe to Llandudno stage where the mayor of Morecambe starts the race by waving the Union flag. British wearer of the yellow jersey starts race stage from the front rank. Signing on at start of race - one of the leading Italians signs on as do several Britons. Olympic Way, Wembley , London finish after ten days. Hill climbs and yellow jersey. Britons do well and race is won by Gordon 'Tiny' Thomas
