Film starts with a recreation of stage coach travel.
A Victorian stage coach with period dressed passengers arrives at an Inn where they are provided with food and drink. The stage coach is drawn by four white horses. The commentary refers to wheels and roads and how they have influenced our lives.
There is a view of Stonehenge then of Victoria Coach station in London - the largest in Europe. People at the Inquiry Office. There is a modern restaurant. New coach stations are being built The film shows us the latest in modern luxury coach travel with comfortable stream-lined coaches and comfortable seats with picture windows. We see hop-pickers in Kent and HMS Victory (Nelson's ship at Portsmouth). The New Forest ponies and the Cheltenham Bus Station. There are views of some of the interesting and picturesque places that can be visited. Warwick Castle, Stratford on Avon, The Lake District, the Yorkshire moors and dales. Newcastle on Tyne with its bridges. The route across the Pennines. Welsh hills and lakes in South Wales (A map shows the area but was made before either of the Severn river crossings were constructed.) There are views from inside a modern coach with a bar and adjustable seats.
Buses that undertake overseas trips. Links to the Continent via Dover docks to connect with the European network. There are excursions and tours to picturesque villages and towns. Shorter one-day trips and some afternoon and evening excursions also. There are trips to London to see the famous buildings and parades. The Chelsea Flower Show. Well Dressing in Derbyshire. Village bands and dancing around the Maypole. Morris dancers dance. Views of Blackpool and the large fairground. Coaches arrive at Blackpool Airport for planes to the Isle of Man. Coaches also connect with airports for continental travel. There are various combination trips. Coach-River. Coach-preserved railways A narrow gauge railway in Wales. Stately homes. A view of Chatsworth House in Derbyshire home of the Duke of Devonshire and Blenheim Palace. Architectural treasures in remote villages. The Cup Final at Wembley Stadium. Motor races - views of cars and crowds at an un-named racing circuit. Views of the 1955 Derby at Epsom (horse race). Crowds at the races arrive by coach. Views of the course and the bookmakers. The film ends with a series of shots of various activities which can be accessed by travelling by coach.
