Cromford and High Peak railway 1960's

To set the scene on the last day of official operations a shot of the lifted Middleton incline (one in eight and a half (12%) the reservoir and water column at Middleton Top. Two class J94 0-6-0ST Nos. 68006 and 68012 are being watered then off along the line with a rake of brake vans. Various action shots are shown, including crossing the spectacular Minnninglow dry stone embankment. The final part of this film shows the abortive attempt of the two locomotives to storm Hopton Incline (1 in 14), Britain's steepest grade worked by adhesion locomotives.
1960 (Whitehouse) Kitson Dock shunter 0-4-0ST (LMS 19320 and 0-6-0st 1946 Ministry of Supply saddle tanks (68034), North London Railway 1887 / 0-6-0T, 68850. Incline plus 1 in 14 climb. Full working.
2. 30 April 1967. last day. Inclines gone. Two J94 0-6-0ST 68006 and 68012 and brake vans unsuccessful attempts on 1 in 14 Hopton incline. + amateur film of last day (Mike Vickers)
