Feature Drama | 1960 | Sound | B/W
A typical film of the 1960's which holds symbolisms of doom as seen through the eyes of a young man who passes through three phases in a very short period of time. Film opens with scenes of a busy shopping area which he observes and is obviously disturbed by some imminent disaster that he feels is about to happen. Next he finds himself in a world devoid of people with the beginnings of hope when he discovers a car behind a veil of smoke. He manages to start the Morris Minor without a key and drives it to a desolate industrial area. Further investigations on foot reveal a now abandoned railway line and station. Then quite unexpectedly, he is confronted by a lone girl with portents of restarting the human race ... his aspirations are soon dashed by the appearance of her companions who attack him and leave him for dead!
A film that evidently related to mankind's worst fears regarding a nuclear holocaust although the film does not actually say this. One's imagination is meant to play its part. Mostly music with some brief dialogue towards the close.
