The towns merits are sold as a place to emigrate to and to work. Flying doctor and the post arrives. Truck freight. Company town. Not enough Australians would work at the mine so immigrants had their fares paid and were given two year contracts.

Note - Wittenoom was built in 1947 and closed in 1966. It is a ghost town. Asbestosis the problem
