29.4.68 - Silent - Washington DC, U.S.A.. Poor people's march to Attorney General's Office. 'Office of the Attorney General' written on side of building, pan to window. Marchers crossing road arm in arm and then walking towards camera (Reverend Abernathy in front row). Marchers climb steps of the Justice Department, Television cameras and reporters line steps.

29.4.68 - Sound - Washington DC, U.S.A.. Abernathy comments on meeting with Attorney General. Abernathy in crowd speaks about the fine discussion had with Attorney General Ramsey Clark. States that it was made clear to him that they expect Civil Rights laws to be enforced. Will be back in ten days and will remain until demands met.

1.5.68 - Sound - Washington DC, U.S.A.. Abernathy speaks having met Dean Rusk. States that march to Washington was initiated so as to avoid the violence experienced during summers of previous years. Indeed, if people do not have proper channels to voice grievances then violence will erupt.

17.5.68 - Silent - Poor people on Mule Train made up of wagons towed by mules along U.S. road, black people on board. Some wagons are covered by canopies. Some of these have slogans written on them: 'I Can See a New Day'. Medium shot of black man sitting on front of wagon with reins in hand. Two black women sitting inside wagon beneath canopy.
