Fatty Arbuckle lies fully clothed in bed and smoking. He drops some ash and newspaper on floor catches alight. He looks concerned but only strolls to kitchen where he takes a cup of water from the tap and throws it over the fire. He attempts to do this a second time, but the fire which had spread to the bedclothes has nearly gone out. His mother who is doing the laundry returns to the kitchen, becomes aware of the fire and goes to throw a washing tub of water over the fire, but throws it over her son Fatty instead
