Synopsis:

A survey of preparations and subsequent journey by rail from King's Cross to edinburgh 1940's

Train in late to waverley but everything is late these days. Very good slippage on the wheels as it tried to leave station with 15 heavy carriages. 7 hours to scotland. In the field we pass old fashoned stoops of corn. Aircaft mentioned as a threat to trian services.

The train is prepared, women cleaning locomotives and carriages, waiting at the station, loading luggage and buffet supplies, station annoucements, bookstand, passenger alight, facilties on board, restaurant car.
