Three lads, Tony, Geoff and Gary go cycling into the countryside, near Birmingham, West Midlands, and camp in a meadow 1970's
Gary with his new bicycle (a Raleigh "Chopper", which features throughout) is considered to be a bit of a nuisance by the older pair, so when they decide to ford the river on their bikes Gary refuses as he does not wish to damage his new bike. Later Gary borrows Tony's bicycle and then fails to return. Whilst he is away the others help themselves to his chocolate. Later Tony and Geoff decide to search for Gary and find him knocked senseless in shallow water with Tony's bike damaged. After reviving Gary the trio return to their tent and campfire and row ensues as a result Tony takes Gary's new push bike and rides away. However, he relents and returns to find that his own bicycle is now all right and the three boys make up and pledge to enjoy their camping weekend from then on.
